Prof. Chris Cranston

Adjunct Instructor of Latin American Humanities and Spanish

My name is Chris Cranston (the guy to the right of my beautiful wife; Professor Concepción Cranston). I was born and raised in the USA and began to study Spanish language and culture in my teenage years. I studied biology and foreign languages (Spanish and French) as an undergraduate student at the University of Central Florida and the Centre d’Études Franco-Américain in Liseux, France. I later obtained my graduate degree in Spanish from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Over the past 40+ years, I have enjoyed traveling numerous times to Europe and Latin America and learning more about foreign languages and cultures.
I have worked at Seminole State College, Eastern Florida State College, Valencia College since the 1990’s teaching ESOL, EAP, Success Strategies for College and Life, Latin American Humanities and presently Spanish.
I enjoy traveling, going to the beach, surfing, practicing yoga asana (I’m also a 268-hour-RYT in Hatha yoga), swimming, cycling, fishing, reading, gardening and being with my family and friends.
Despite teaching online courses and not being able to have the same spontaneous interaction of a traditional face-to-face course, please rest assured that beyond your computer screen, there is a human being; me, your instructor who wants to help you have a rewarding learning experience. Please contact me via Canvas email if you need my help or if you would like to speak to me personally by phone.
