Adjunct Professor, Physics

I was born and grew up in Sichuan, China. I received my B.S. degree in physics in 1992, from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, and received my PhD in Physics in 2003 from CREOL (Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers) of University of Central Florida. After obtaining my PhD, I have been conducting research in university, doing R&D in industry, and so on. My work has been focused on optics and photonics. I have published numerous journal papers and conference papers, and so on.

Teaching Philosophy: A class is like a journey, and I hope that you will enjoy this journey with me through the world of physics. I hope that you will gain the knowledge and understanding that will prove useful to you in the future. I believe that it is important to help the students to be actively involved in the learning process, to facilitate the students to learn in addition to teach them knowledge, and to help them to develop interest and curiosity in the subject area. Understanding is very important for mastering concepts, knowledge and skills. The students need to learn by understanding rather than only memorizing the content, think in addition to learn, apply what they have learned, solve problems, verify a theory by experiment, seek evidence, analyze arguments, generate hypotheses, discuss with classmates and the teacher, and so on. I believe that teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion about a subject area motivate students to learn. On the other hand, students’ active involvement will improve the overall learning environment.
