Jeanne Ferreira

Adjunct Professor of Spanish and Latin American Humanities

This is a photo of me in 2011 (Christmas) with one of my former students from 1979. He was an undergraduate at the university where I taught. He didn't always earn As, but he worked hard and did well. He and I became good friends through the years, and he surprised me with a visit last year.

I have been facilitating student learning in the areas of literature and language since 1977. I have taught all levels of Spanish, but primarily the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses at the high school level and upper level Intermediate Spanish at the university level, including literature and composition courses. I love teaching literature.

I have enjoyed teaching Heritage Speakers for years, and I also love teaching non-natives who are learning Spanish for the first time.So often students have anxiety about learning another language , so I try to create a comfortable environment in the classroom.
I teach all levels of Spanish and Latin American Humanities at Valencia College.

I have various interests/hobbies which I enjoy when time allows. In no particular order they are:writing poetry, and song lyrics. I love preparing gourmet meals, using fresh ingredients and herbs I grow. I am a skilled baker; love flower gardening, reading, and traveling. I think traveling to foreign countries is especially important for all of us. Learning about other people, their culture, and their belief systems are important elements to foster understanding and good will.
