Adjunct Faculty – Economics

Dr. Stuart Fletcher is an Adjunct Instructor with decades of graduate and undergraduate experience in teaching economics and business in a wide variety of settings. He holds degrees in Economics from the University of Virginia (1980), and an MBA in Finance (1983) and PhD in Economics from Florida State University (1990). Outside of being a professor, he has practiced business and held licenses in several different fields, from securities (primarily stocks and bonds) to life and health insurance, as well as property and casualty insurance. His somewhat recent publications include those in Space Coast Business with titles such as “Retirees and Boomers to Drive Future Economy,” as well as “More Floridians are Moving to the Space Coast” and “Government Spending and the Space Coast.” Since then, he has presented these and other topics in many settings. His previous publications also include articles in The Journal of Real Estate Research, the Journal of Commercial Lending, the CPA Journal, the Appraisal Journal, etc. He is currently conducting research in two areas with Dr. David Palmer regarding the economic impacts of migration movements and indigenous and social movements in Mexico.

Personal: Stuart is a Brevard County (Space Coast) resident. He and his wife, Juliet, have a son, Thompson (age 23), and a daughter, Juliet (age 21 and a Valencia College student-Go Matadors!). They also have several four legged pets. Stuart thoroughly enjoys teaching for Valencia College, and his goal is to provide excellent learning opportunities for all of his students.
