James Johnson

Professor, Information Technology

I am currently a full-time faculty member at Valencia’s West Campus. I hold a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Business Administration from The University of Northern Colorado. I started my career as a systems engineer with IBM. While employed by IBM, I took a three-year leave of absence to serve as a Missile Launch Officer in the US Air Force at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. I left IBM after nine years to teach computer programming at a small college in Rapid City, SD. I came to Valencia in 1991 and have been teaching here at West Campus ever since. I've been teaching online courses for more than ten years. I was born and raised in southern New Jersey and am married with no children. I live in Osceola County, between Kissimmee and St. Cloud. I enjoy bicycling (I did some racing in my younger days) and reading in my spare time.
