Kristen Chancey

Part-Time Professor of English

Hello there. My name is Kristen Chancey, and I am a veteran English instructor and proud graduate of the University of Florida. Florida is something of a theme with me, as I'm a native Floridian, born and raised in Lake County. I have been teaching college-level courses since 1997, and I've been teaching online courses since 2010.

I teach primarily ENC 1101 and ENC 1102, which I think are some of the most vital and interesting classes available to students. To me, learning is a partnership between instructor and student. Students learn best when they are given rich opportunities and robust support, and when the focus is on their individual growth and acquisition of knowledge.

I consider myself a lifelong learner. In my spare time, I like to read, watch movies, research my family history, and write for fun (yes, it can be done!). My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Stephen King, and Ray Bradbury. I also have a weakness for biographies and documentaries, and I'm always happy to hear any recommendations for new ones!
