Lana Powell

I was born and grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating form Needham High School, I attended Stetson University in DeLand, Florida. I graduated from Stetson with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. I then became licensed as a CPA in Florida.


As a Professor of Business at Valencia I have taught : Basic Accounting, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Income Tax Accounting, Small Business Management, Marketing, Business Math, and Introduction to Business. Currently I teach Business Math and Introduction to Business. I have also been on the faculty of University of Central Florida and Orange County Public Schools.


I have been The Visiting Professor of International Business at Koning Willem College1 in the Netherlands in 2008,2009,2010,2012,2014. I have taken student groups to The Dominican Republic, Denmark, and Portugal. Recognitions include: Bank of America Chair in Business Management 2007, and John and Florence MacLeod Chair in Business 2014


I am married and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. My hobbies include: hiking, gardening, traveling, and finding bargains. As a hiker I have accomplished three fourteeners (hiked to 14,000 feet) and climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon twice..
