Mary Ann D'Alesandro

Professor of Nursing

I joined Valencia College in October 2007 as a Professor of Nursing. A graduate of an associate degree program in 1994 from Luzerne Community College in Nanticoke, PA; I then earned my BSN from the University of Phoenix in 2001 and MSN from the University of Colorado- Boulder in 2004. I am currently in my Doctoral program at Capella University working towards my DNP.

Currently I teach Nursing II, Pharmacology and Clinical Decision Making, Medical Terminology and the RN Refresher Course.

I have been afforded the opportunity to work in various areas in Nursing including Surgery, Pre-op, PACU, Management, Informatics and now in Education. I also hold national certifications in 2 areas of Nursing: CNOR - Operating Room and BC – Board Certification Nursing Informatics.

I can be described as I'm goofy, clumsy and nerdy and my biggest challenge is trying to fold a fitted sheet. I normally just get frustrated and wrap it into a ball and tuck it into the shelf.

I have 4 golden retrievers who don't retrieve anything and I’m the biggest Tampa Bay Rays fan...I never miss a game. EVER. I also love the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey. I am a published author in the Nursing world in peer reviewed, double-blind journals and love to read and write. My favorite place is the gulf beaches (Indian Rocks Beach) and love anything in or around the water.

Reach out to me if you'd like to talk about nursing, writing, tips on how to fold that dreaded fitted sheet and "Your Tampa Bay Rays!"
