Nestor Luis Grajales

I have been in the desktop publishing field for over 20 years. Starting as a typesetter for a local Orlando magazine using the initial Apple LISA computer and PageMaker 1.0, not the mention the T-Square and wax rollers. Over the years, I’ve seen the DTP arena grow and encompass the transition from paste-up mechanicals to electronic page production, proof flats to online PDF soft proofing, acetate film to digital media and 4-color film separations to CTP processes.

Most of my education has been real world experience. Nevertheless, I attended college as time allowed and in 2003 received my A.S. in Graphic Design Technology from Valencia. In 2010, I received my B.S. in Management from the University of Phoenix.

I have been teaching part-time at Valencia Community College since 2003. I teach most introductory graphic design courses; such as Graphic Design Essentials, Illustrator, Photoshop, Layout & Design, Publication Design, and so on.

Formally, I worked at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt School Publishers in Orlando and prior to that, I was a senior graphic artist at Sprint Publishing in Maitland. At HMH I worked in the Technical Production Services department that oversaw the technical development and electronic setup for the various academic textbook programs.

My hobbies are; sport fencing, softball, and miniature model building.
