Nichole Jackson

Instructor of Humanities

Welcome. I teach courses in the interdisciplinary humanities including Twentieth Century, Enlightenment and Romanticism, and Greek and Roman which fulfill the college writing requirement. I also teach Introduction to Humanities which is available to any Valencia College student and starting in fall 2014 will be one of the choices for the required core first-year classes. If you are intereseted in any of these courses and how they fit into your education plan please contact me and I will be glad to discuss your possibilities.

Student comments from previous semesters are listed here for you as you choose between the courses.

Introduction to Humanities--
"What I found most helpful about this course was all the in class discussions that we had. Professor Jackson made sure that all the students understood the material before moving on to the next topic. The in class assignments were also very helpful. I also liked how she included a rubric for all our projects so that we knew exactly what is expected of us. If a student doesn't do well on one of their assignments, Professor Jackson takes the time to guide her students in the right direction so that they can do better on their next assignment. Best Professor I've ever had and I would highly recommend any student to take this course....Overall, this learning experience has been very pleasant and I would not change anything." (Valencia College, CourseEval SAI 201231-H2 34347).

Greek and Roman Humanities--
"Professor was an extremely thoughtful with her execution of the material! The class was difficult but encouraged critical thinking with papers instead of tests" (Valencia College, CourseEval SAI 201320-1 21164).

Enlightenment and Romanticism Humanities--
"Good instructor, can definitely tell she enjoys the humanities which made the class easier/more fun than having a lecture on the subject" (Valencia College, CourseEval SAI 201410-1 17064).

Twentieth Century Humanities--
“The course felt like it was carefully curated by Prof. Jackson who clearly has not only a deep understanding but a love for the Humanities. I felt every text I was exposed to furthered my knowledge on the 20th century, which, in turn, furthered my knowledge of the present. Nothing felt out of place. Nothing felt like filler. I liked that ideas planted early on paid off in big ways later in the course. I cannot praise this course nor Prof. Jackson higher.... In a perfect world, Prof. Jackson's version of this course would be required for every degree seeking student” (Valencia College, CourseEval SAI 201310-1 14851).
