Dr. Robert Gessner

West Campus Dean of Science

I grew up on Long Island, N.Y and after graduating from high school, I moved to Florida. I was awarded a B.A. in Microbiology at the University of South Florida and then a D.V.M. from the University of Florida where I concentrated on parasitology and small animal medicine.
After practicing veterinary medicine for 5 years, I decided to fulfill another lifelong goal to teach. I taught at Evans and West Orange High Schools and was an adjunct instructor at VCC and SCC until 2003, when I decided to come to Valencia as a full-time professor. Currently, I am the West Campus Dean of Science.
My major hobby has been to travel and explore America's national parks; I have been to every national park in the lower 48, 4 national parks in Alaska, 2 in Hawaii and one in the Virgin Islands. Now, I've started to explore Canada's national parks and I have been to 6 of Canada's Rocky Mountain National Parks. I wish that one day you get to visit some of our national parks; they will take your breath away.

Hours

Students and faculty can often find me in my office from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. unless I have meetings; therefore it is a good idea to set up an appointment. with one of my administrative assistants, either Kerri Tate (407-582-1407) or Heather Hamilton (407-582-1033), if you want to ensure meeting with me.
