"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." Through my almost thirty years of teaching experience, I have come to believe that the student can be trained to learn or develop certain skills, and indoctrinated to believe certain things. But, one cannot be educated from without. Education is a self-help project, it is the acquisition and application of knowledge for the benefit of oneself and environment. The information that’s necessary for educating oneself has become more technologically complex, and culturally diverse. It is therefore the role of the teacher to establish environments where students will be able to learn and apply skills that will help them to cope in this ever changing technologically complex and culturally diverse world.
