Faculty FrontDoor

Rachael Root

Adjunct Professor

Hello and Welcome!

I am a new addition to Valencia College and am currently teaching Introductory Anthropology on the West Campus and online.

Here are a few fun things about me:

I am an anthropologist by temperament and by training. I received my B.A. in Anthropology from UCF in 2014 and did undergraduate ethnographic research in Salango, Ecuador.
I received my M.A. in Anthropology from UCF in 2016 and did my graduate thesis on World of Warcraft PvP. I have presented my research at national conventions in Lexington, Kentucky; Denver, Colorado; and Seattle, Washington.

Before returning to school for anthropology, I worked as a Chiropractic Assistant, an Office Manager at an electronic repair facility, and received an A.S. in Computer Programming and Analysis from Eastern Florida State College.
I am happily married, have a bossy cat, and love to read. I have argued politics in Singapore, examined a nightingale floor in Japan, tasted the Great Salt Lake in Utah, and climbed the Eiffel Tower. I have written novels and poetry, created websites and databases, and helped people recover from auto accident injuries.

And I'm not done yet! Teaching is the next chapter in my adventure, and I look forward to sharing it with you.
