Alberta Harris

Adjunct Professor of Humanities

I was born in the Netherlands, and came to the United States when I was two years old. I have loved education from the time I entered kindergarten at age four, when I still didn't speak English.

I earned an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts from Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY; a B.A from State University of New York, Oneonta, in Secondary English Education; and a Masters of Humanities from California State University, Dominguez Hills. I have been teaching online classes for Valencia for the past several years.

I find that having online classes works well for many in this generation, with jobs, families, and many other duties. While it can be challenging to students, it is the instructor's duty to make the course flow and to offer a variety of teaching and learning strategies, that will appeal to all types of learners.

Besides my love for teaching, I also have written books (one published), and I enjoy gardening, traveling and entertaining my large family. Life is good!
