Background

Ms. Hefka attended Florida State University and obtained a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in the History and Criticism of Art. In 2012, she attended Florida State University and attained a Master's Degree in the History and Criticism of Art; specializing in Italian Renaissance portraiture and Museum Studies. Mostly recently, she earned a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies with Distinction from Rutgers University.In addition to her studies, Ms. Hefka worked as the Art Education Facilitator at the Mary Brogan Museum of Art in Tallahassee, Florida, where she wrote and organized educational materials. Additionally, she lead workshops that surrounded the current exhibitions, which included Italian Baroque Paintings from Lombardy. In conjunction with working at the Brogan, she also taught Communication for Art and Design at Florida State University.

Currently, she is an associate professor at Valencia College. Ms. Hefka teaches Art History and Art Appreciation.

Ms. Hefka is active within the art community outside of Valencia College. In attempt to remain current with art historical findings, she conducts professional research projects. In 2015, she submitted an article to the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC. The article A Young Girl Reading: A Chapter in Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s Biography coincided with the Gallery’s main showcase of Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s A Young Girl Reading. In Summer 2021, she will present her paper, Art for the People, by the People: The Role of Artistic Expression in American Democracy  at the Nineteenth International Conference on New Directions in the Humanities, at Complutense University of Madrid. 

Furthermore, she is an active participant in local art shows, such as in street art events as Winter Garden’s 2017 Chalkin' It Up Sidewalk Art Contest.
