Angela Vergara


Instructor and Doctoral Candidate in Sociology at the University of Central Florida. Mental health professional graduated from St. John’s University in New York City with a Masters in Experimental Psychology with studies at the University of Central Florida, Paul Sabatier III University in France and San Ignacio de Loyola University in Lima, Peru. Participated in university teaching and has been awarded several academic prizes and scholarships. Conducted and directed research associated with mental health, ethnicity, and the relationship between education and socio-economic status with the Department of Psychiatry at Mt. Sinai Research Hospital in New York City. My studies have focused on cross-cultural variables, specifically those impacting minorities. Additionally, I have studied the perception of body image, dissatisfaction with self, and the definition of self-image through the social context.
