I was born and raised in Fitchburg, MA and was also a longtime resident of Gardner, MA. I am a United States Marine Corps veteran (Infantry / 1975 - 1981). I have had an extensive law enforcement career with service on the Gardner, Athol, and Shirley, MA Police Departments, as well as with the Fitchburg State College Campus Police (also located in Massachusetts). I took and passed the Massachusetts Bar Examination in June of 1995 and have been a practicing attorney since that time (Massachusetts only). I served as a Counselor-at-Large on the Gardner, MA City Council and was a member of the Council’s Finance Committee (1995 - 1997). I was also elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1997 (2nd Worcester District), where I served for nine years as the Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Criminal Justice, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Committee on Transportation, and with additional memberships on the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs and the Joint Committee on Commerce and Labor (1997 - 2005). After departing the Massachusetts House of Representatives, I served as the General Counsel and MA Special Assistant Attorney General for the Worcester County, MA Sheriff’s Office (2005 - 2009). I relocated to the west coast of Florida (Citrus County) in 2011, and have been teaching at Valencia since the fall semester of that year.
