Dr. Bryan Spangler


EMS Professor & Clinical Coordinator

Dr. Bryan L. Spangler joined the faculty of Valencia College as a Professor in the School of Allied Health, teaching Emergency Medical Services/Paramedicine classes in August 2017 after relocating from Columbus, Ohio. He serves as the EMS Clinical Coordinator, and also teaches classes in both the paramedic and EMT programs.

An Ohio native prior to Valencia, Dr. Spangler was a full-time faculty member and the EMS Program Director at Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, Ohio. In addition to training numerous paramedics over his 7 years at COTC, Dr. Spangler led that college’s endeavor to become a nationally accredited paramedic program and to open two new satellite campuses paramedic locations/labs.

Prior to teaching, he worked with MedFlight in Columbus, Ohio; the BKP Ambulance District in Kenton, Ohio; Put-In-Bay Township EMS on South Bass Island, Lake Erie; and initially starting in 2002 as a volunteer for the Ada-Liberty Rescue Squad in Ada, Ohio. He was the elected Chief of Ada EMS in 2004.

Dr. Spangler holds a Doctor of Health Science degree (2017) from AT Still University in Mesa, Arizona; a Master of Health Administration degree (2013) from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio; and a Bachelor of Arts degree (2005) from Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio.

Dr. Spangler is certified as a Paramedic by the National Registry of EMTs, State of Florida, and State of Ohio. He also earned his Critical Care Paramedic certification from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 2018. He holds additional certifications as a Nationally Certified EMS Educator, Certified Medical Transport Executive, and is also a certified Instructor in AHA ACLS & BLS, and NAEMT’s PHTLS & EPC.
