Carolyn DeLeo

Professor Sonography
Program Chair

I began my healthcare career receiving an Associates of Science in Radiologic Technology from Naugatuck Valley Community College in Connecticut. I received a Bachelor of General Studies from University of Connecticut, and a Masters of Arts in Adult education from University of Phoenix.

I have been performing sonograpahic examinations for over 35 years. I was able to learn sonography on-the-job which was the norm over 30 years ago. I am registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Breast, Pediatrics, and Vascular.

I started at Valencia College in May 2015 as the DMS Lab and Clinical Coordinator. In August 2016, I became the Program Chair/Program Director of the DMS Program.

My goal is equip future sonographers with the knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking abilities to be successful sonographers using a variety of learner-centered instructional strategies.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, my Westie named Finlay (Gaelic for white warrior), Letterboxing (www.letterboxing.org), and exploring Florida.
