Public School Teaching
Teaching was always a passion for me since I was in my early teens. My teaching career began in Jamaica 40 years ago with pre-school students. After migrating to the United States, and completed college in 1995, I taught English in high school and middle school. Then, for six and a half years, I taught Reading and English through ESOL for, (English Speakers of Other Languages). Currently, I have been teaching English and Reading through ESOL, to high school students. In addition, I teach English in the DUAL Enrollment at Edgewater High School.

Higher Education Teaching Career
Since September 2000, I have been teaching a Student Success course here at Valencia College. Additionally, I also teach 2006, College Writing (ENC 1101&1102) since 2006

My Passions
Teaching is, and always will be the highlight of my existence. It is my goal to convey the knowledge to students in a way that increases their understanding of the subject matter. In order to ensure that they receive the tools necessary, I must create a classroom that is conducive to higher learning. To achieve this, my classroom must be student-centered. This means, creating cohesiveness among myself and my students, structured cooperative assignments, and explicit instruction so that they can achieve success.

Hobbies: In my spare time I enjoy reading, computers, cooking, and organic gardening.
