Dr. Debra Hollister

Professor of Psychology Lake Nona Campus
Co-advisor phi theta kappa

Welcome to Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida! My name is Debra Hollister and I teach psychology classes here on the Lake Nona Campus. I graduated from Valencia and then attended and graduated from the University Of Central Florida (UCF). I have been in practice as a therapist working in both a hospital and community mental health center setting. I have served as a state consultant working with children with a variety of pervasive developmental disorders.

One of the activities that I am involved here on the Lake Nona Campus is the internship program. I serve as a Faculty Intern Supervisor for students who participate in the psychology internship program. Valencia has some wonderful internships available to students. If you are a student, you should consider participating in an internship. There are several psychology internship that are available. Some popular internship experiences include working at Sea World at Discovery Cove. Another internship is at Busch Gardens where student "elephant watchers" collect data on development and social interactions. The data being collected is important to understanding how growth, development and communication happens among the elephant population. This internship experience has been tracking the development of the different Elephants at Busch Gardens. There are many different psychology internships available. Please talk to me or e-mail if you are interested in participating in one of them!

Phi Theta Kappa is also an important experience for you. If you qualify for membership - you should check out the organization at PTK.org.
