David C. Peck

David Peck is a newly appointed adjunct professor, teaching business math. He is a retired business executive with a long history of senior positions in management, marketing, planning, and operations with prominent financial firms including Merrill Lynch, Citicorp, Bank of America and Chemical Bank. He has written two books on investments and financial services.
Mr. Peck has served with several national consulting firms, including Arthur D Little, Naisbitt, and Tellefsen in operations, systems, planning and turnarounds. Among his 30 clients are Sears, Exxon, GE, Touche Ross, Panasonic, Merck, AT&T, Merrill Lynch, Hoffman la Roche, First Boston and Traveler’s.
In addition to management and consulting work, Mr. Peck has held faculty positions with eight colleges and universities, including Rutgers, Syracuse, Pace, Fordham, and SUNY. Courses taught include statistics, finance, investments, operations, quantitative decision making, marketing, new business ventures, research and development, planning, logistics, and consulting.
Mr. Peck served 30 years in the Navy Reserve, and was the lead for many high level pentagon programs and projects. He served in Hue, Viet Nam in 1970. He also served with US Central Command, and retired as an O-6. One reserve assignment led to his appointment as the C.O.O. of the Navy Exchange System, with worldwide responsibility for 27,000 employees and $ 2.0 billion in revenue. He is generally credited with the successful turnaround of that organization.
Other turnarounds resulted in ownership, including President of Unified Management, an integrated mutual fund and stock brokerage company, and CEO of a nationally prominent printing firm. Mr. Peck also co-founded Ixion Biotechnology, with cures for diabetes and kidney stones, in Gainesville, Fl. The public offering was over-subscribed, and the company was subsequently purchased by a Swedish firm.
Mr. Peck holds a BA in math and economics, and an MBA in marketing from Syracuse University. He also completed his PhD coursework in quantitative methods, finance and marketing. His post graduate studies include accounting and contract law at NYU, and organizational management at Rutgers. He is also a graduate of the Culver Military Academy and the Outward Bound School.
