Hani Freeman

I am an adjunct instructor at Valencia College teaching Introduction to Psychology courses. I love teaching and working with my students to accomplish their academic goals.

I received my Ph.D. in personality and social psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2010 working with Sam Gosling, Ph.D. My dissertation work focused on the development and validation of a chimpanzee personality rating scale using a variety of approaches and methods including behavior, endocrinology, physiology and injury and illness data. During graduate school I also worked on several personality projects with different species including humans and cheetahs that had health and well-being implications.

Following my graduate work I completed three post-doctoral researcher positions focused on using research to understand and advocate for the best care for animals living in captive environments.

In addition to advocating for non-human animals, I want to do more to help humans as well. I am currently working on a Master's of Social Work degree through UCF in hopes of combining my passions to improve both human and animal lives.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my friends and my husband and our pets. I love being outside and enjoying nature as well as being inside baking and reading.
