Jennifer Hitchcock

Adjunct Professor of Science

Jennifer has spent over 20 years working in the horticulture industry. Her first career out of college was working for the University of Florida IFAS Extension Service in Orange County. There she taught residential horticulture to the public and lead the Master Gardener volunteer program. Jennifer gained mass media experience through her live call-in Gardener’s Hotline TV show on PBS and a gardening column with the Orlando Sentinel. After serving as an educator, Jennifer specialized exclusively with trees as an ISA certified arborist in sales in Chicago. She developed the City of Chicago territory in the private sector to over half a million in sales. Collaborated with landscapers, contractors, and homeowners to create annual tree maintenance programs. Returning to Orlando, Jennifer worked as a landscape maintenance manager before establishing her own arboriculture and horticulture consulting company. She focuses mostly serving real estate agents, building contractors, homeowner associations, and residents to determine tree health and safety. Jennifer is pleased to offer her experience and knowledge to the students at Valencia College and happy to be back teaching again. She holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Environmental Horticulture with the University of Florida. Currently Jennifer is teaching the Types & Systems of Ag Operations in the Summer at the West Campus. In the past Jennifer has taught the Botany course at the West Campus.
