Hello! I completed my Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at UCF this spring and I am very excited to begin my first semester teaching at Valencia Community College! My love for teaching began in Hiroshima, Japan where I taught university students at a private English conversation school for about three and a half years. I had excellent trainers and mentors who helped me develop my teaching style and skills. After Japan I moved to Casablanca, Morocco where I taught at the American Language Center for two years. I enjoy meeting people from around the world and know that as much as I teach my students I certainly learn from them as well. I understand firsthand that learning a language is not an easy task and have so much respect for each of my students and all the hard work they put into their language learning goals. I strive to make my classes as relevant and enjoyable as possible. To that end I am interested in student feedback and ideas so that I can continually improve. I am a huge fan of technology and am very interested in how I can integrate it into my lessons as well as how I can encourage my students to use it to learn. My teaching jobs prior to this were very low-tech so this maybe challenging initially, but I think that it will be worth it in this age of technology!

When I am not teaching I am a busy mother to an awesome seven year girl. We love going to Disney, the beach and the movies together. I have learned some Japanese and especially loved learning and practicing Kanji. I tried learning some Moroccan and French, but I am currently interested in learning Spanish since so many of my friends and neighbors speak it fluently. I love food in general and enjoy cooking as much as I enjoy eating. In fact, whenever I plan a trip anywhere I almost always have a list of foods that I need to try or restaurants that I need to visit.
