ENC Jasmine Nokaly

Professor of English

All About Me:

Hello, everyone! My name is Jasmine Nokaly and I teach ENC1101 and ENC1102. I have been working at Valencia for ten years. I love teaching and learning new things. I believe that acquiring knowledge is a prerequisite for creating a better version of yourself. Our class, like all the others at Valencia, is student-centered, and the students share in the learning process. I look forward to learning about you and working with you to create a positive high quality educational experience.

I was born and raised in New York City. I love writing poetry; I have read my poetry in front of the Mayor of Orlando, the congregation of Temple Shalom and the Interfaith Peace Partners in the Villages, and at several Open-Mics. In addition to poetry, I love swimming. I have been fortunate enough to scuba-dive in the coral reefs of Maui.

I have a BA in Sociology from The City University of New York, an MA in Higher Educational Leadership with a concentration in English from UCF, and graduate certifications in Professional Writing, Community College Education, and Graduate Teaching Assistant from UCF as well.

One thing that I love about Valencia is the diversity of our students. Each semester at Valencia, I continue to make a personal connection with my students, which continues to broaden my perspectives.

My family is one of the greatest blessings of my life. My parents, older sister, and younger brother live in New York. My twelve-year-old son, eight-year-old daughter, and tiger cat live with me in Orlando.

All of you have a lot to offer this class, and this is a wonderful place to start!
