Professor, New Student Experience

About me:
My professional background includes eight-years in human resources development in the private industry where I focused on employee development, recruitment and employee relations. I have been with Valencia College for over six-years as an Academic Advisor, Manager of the Office for Students with Disabilities and currently, as a Professor of New Student Experience and a part-time instructor in the psychology departments of Osceola and Lake Nona campuses. My academic background includes an Associate in Arts degree in General Studies from Valencia College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior from Rollins College, A Master of Science degree in General Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, and I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

About the course:: New Student Experience (SLS 1122) is a required course for students earning the Associate in Arts degree and may be required for some Associate in Science degrees. Students not utilizing this course as a requirement may also take SLS1122 for elective credit in some programs. In this course, we will examine the alignment of your strengths and goals to your academic and professional pathways. This is a highly interactive course that will include significant interaction with your instructor, with your classmates and with other faculty and staff throughout the college. Students will be expected to communicate effectively, think critically, conduct themselves professionally and demonstrate significant effort to be successful in this course.
