Mrs. Keri Siler

Mathematics Professor, Adjunct

When I was in college and working on my degree in mathematics, I started tutoring at the math lab on campus. I really enjoyed working with students and assisting them with learning difficult concepts. It was very rewarding. When I finished my bachelor’s degree in mathematics and started my master’s degree, it was a natural choice for me to pursue the advanced degree in education.

In the past 20+ years of my professional career, I have had quite a variety of teaching opportunities. I taught algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus at the high school level. I taught middle school mathematics also. I taught teachers in face-to-face workshops or in the online environment for about 12 years. I also taught an education course as an adjunct for Florida Community College of Jacksonville.

At the administrative level, I worked at the Columbia County School District Office as the Blueprint for Career Preparation and School-to-Work grants coordinator, as well as the Vocational Special Needs Coordinator. In these positions I planned and coordinated activities such as designing technology labs, providing teacher professional development activities, purchasing teaching materials to support applied learning methodologies, etc. I also worked for an organization called the North East Florida Educational Consortium where I served 21 school districts in Florida as a Workforce Development Coordinator. In that position I supported schools with teacher professional development and program design.

When it comes to learning, the most important thing that you can do is to ask questions. Never hesitate to ask a question. No question is ever a silly or stupid question. Unasked questions are missed opportunities for learning.
