Mrs Melissa Carrier

Professor of Mathematics

I grew up in upstate New York in a small town called Bath, NY. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Niagara University which is located in Niagara Falls, NY. After earning my bachelors I then attended the State University of NY at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY where I got my Master of Arts in Applied Mathematics. While I enjoyed my time in New York, once the time came to start my career I had made the choice I wanted to move but I did not know where I was going to go except that it was going to be somewhere at least a few states away! My first job out of grad school in 2006 was back in another small town in southern Georgia at Waycross College, in Waycross, GA. While I thoroughly enjoyed the other instructors and students that I was working with, moving back to a small town was not for me. After two years at Waycross I ended up moving to Orlando and started my career here at Valencia in 2008! I primarily teach MAT 1033C (Intermediate Algebra), MGF 1106 (College Math), MGF 1107 (Math for Liberal Arts), and occasionally MAC 1105 (College Algebra), and MAC 1140 (Precalculus Algebra).
