EXTRA EFFORT TICKET OPPORTUNITIES: ~ tickets add points to test grades!

1) Access the Review for the Final Exam Questions "**** a. In Blackboard under the Open Lab Content heading on the left, click Final Exam Material b. Click 28C Review for Final Exam [top link] c. Click Continue to Begin the Review d. Do questions specified below from the chapters we have covered in class with Save & Submit after each question. Copy questions as you go on paper or submit a copy of your grade book to verify you have completed the required questions correctly [1st do Questions from Ch. 1, then Ch. 2, then repeat Ch. 1 & 2 questions and add those from Ch. 6, etc. until we have covered all the chapter material in class and you do all 40 questions.] Such verification must be shown to Professor Sikora to earn Extra Effort tickets on the Test Day for that chapter and the previously covered chapters. Extra Effort tickets add points to a low test grade at the end of the term.

3) Complete 1, 2, and/or 3 of the Chapter Extra Effort Puzzles listed for the current chapter in the "Course Materials" link in this website.  Do work either on your printed copy or on separate paper stapled to the puzzle with the answer to the riddle clearing specified.  Place these in the left pocket with your MiniQuizzes for that chapter and turn them in on that chapter's test day.  Ticket(s) will be stapled for test score increase redemption near the end of the term.

4)  Internet Search  Type a paragraph describing Boolean Algebra [the concept, interesting facts, examples, ...]  Due by next Chapter Test

5)  Attend the Math Connections [to your right when entering the Math Lab 7-240] to work on algebra concepts, competency questions, and/or homework problems.  Take a Math Connections attendance sheet [see Course Materials link at the bottom] with you having a faculty member there sign it each time. Keep this running log of your visits and turn in this sheet for ticket(s) and the end of the term.  [Note: Sessions with your SL Leader can not be given tickets, but I am often told who cares enough to attend] 

6)  Newspaper/magazine article related to Algebra, Mathematics, or Topics we are currently studying [e.g. equations, graphs, proportions, humor...] Mount on colored paper or poster board and add 1 or 2 sentences about what you learned from your article.  It will be displayed on the bulletin board. [Limit 3/term]

7)  Community Service  Keep a log of topics covered, date and time you spend tutoring someone in any mathematics class.  This can be a child in elementary school through high school or someone at Valencia who needs your help to understand the concepts presented in our course - MAT0024C.  [Tickets will be awarded at the end of the term according to the extensive nature of your log and a written statement from your tutoree as to the effectiveness of your help]
