Faculty FrontDoor

Dr. Nicole Boucher Spottke

Professor of English

Education and Professional Experience

I am a graduate of the University of South Florida, Tampa with a PhD in literature. I also am lead copy editor for an online journal, Aphra Behn Online

as well as the Faculty Fellow for for Online Teaching and Learning--until the end of the summer anyway :)

Teaching Duties

I teach online, hybrid, and traditional courses at VCC--ENC 1101 and ENC 1102, British Literature 1300-1800, and Introduction to Literature.

Teaching Philosophy, Briefly

My teaching philosophy is that diversity enhances learning. You are all of different races, nationalities, genders, sexual preferences, socio-economic backgrounds and more. And it is because of our diverse experiences that learning occurs as we discuss our differences with relation to literature, writing, and life in general.

Outside Interests

I love reading and writing, running and exercise classes. I am nearly done with Stephen King's book 4 of the Dark Tower series. I have also started writing a blog that began in London over the summer 2016. I traveled to Wales, through England, and ran a half marathon at Disneyland Paris. Fantastic trip. Read about it here:
