Welcome to my home page. I am an Adjunct Instructor at Valencia College. I am from Colombia, and I enjoy teaching Spanish and sharing my culture. I also have other interests like music, reading, traveling and playing my guitar. Family is very important to me, and I always treasure the opportunities that I have to spend time with my loved ones.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Spanish Literature with a Minor in Foreign Language Education and Latin American Studies. I have a passion for languages and this field has provided me with the opportunity to look at life from the inside out, to analyze, to reflect upon, to evaluate and to try to understand the human being and the society. My favorite writers are Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa, Alejo Carpentier, Cortázar, Miguel de Unamuno, and Benito Pérez Galdós, among others. I also have a passion for writing and I have a column on a Spanish newspaper called El Playero.

I love learning about other cultures and other people’s views on life. I have traveled to Spain, France, England, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Bermuda and Switzerland and have enjoyed gaining some insight on people’s behaviors and practices that have enriched my life tremendously.

Words are very powerful, and I love and live by several quotes:

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these.
George Washington Carver

Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.
Albert Einstein

I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see.
John Burroughs
