Dr. Peter Ogonowski

Greetings;

I’m a scholar-practitioner, trained largely in economics and business.

Academically, I earned a Ph.D. in Business from Capella University; a Master’s degree in Economics from York University; and an Honors Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto - specializing in Economics, Urban and Economic Geography, and Criminology. I also completed the Licensed International Financial Analyst (LIFA) Designation, and am a Certified Digital Professor.

Additionally, I have acquired valuable, professional work experience of about 22 years, primarily as a (Senior/Principal) Economist with different consulting companies. My key responsibilities included conducting economic and financial analyses of different projects for various levels of governments and private-sector clients throughout North America, and overseas, as well as managing projects, and leading multidisciplinary teams of professionals representing different career levels from recent graduates to senior staff. Moreover, I’ve been an active member of the Transportation Research Board, particularly the Economic Development and Land Use Committee, where I’ve served as the Secretary, as well as the Economics and Finance Committee. I’ve also enjoyed memberships in the American Economic Association, and the National Association for Business Economics. Furthermore, I’ve published, and peer reviewed multiple journal articles and studies, and have presented or served as a panelist/moderator at numerous industry conferences.

I have professionally practiced conducting economic/business analyses for over two decades, and have come to appreciate the linkages of knowledge I learned in university lecture halls with real-world applications to business problem solving, which I plan to leverage in my Valencia/UCF courses.

Personally, I enjoy reading economics and business books and articles, traveling, practicing triathlon, and spending time with my family.
I will be happy to pass my theoretical and hands-on knowledge onto Valencia/UCF students. I found my undergraduate economics courses truly illuminating and eye-opening, and I do hope you’ll find this course enriching as well.
