Robert Grimming


Mr. Grimming joined Wekiva High School at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year . A 15-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Grimming has a wealth of experience with electronics and laser systems. Reaching the rank of Major in the U.S. Army, Mr. Grimming held various positions to include Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer in an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit and Deputy Chief of Operations in the Army’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives Command.

From 2009 to 2012 Mr. Grimming was part of the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point. While assigned to West Point, he taught Introductory Physics and Lasers and Optics. Additionally, he was one of the lead researchers in the Academy’s Photonics Research Center. Some of the projects he was involved in included performing feasibility studies for high energy laser systems, development of an ultrashort pulse laser, and extensive thermodynamic modeling for laser interaction.
