Regina Seguin

Librarian

I have been a full time librarian at Valencia's West Campus since 2007. I am originally from Long Island, NY and have lived in Florida since 2004.

I received my BA in English from State University of New York at Geneseo and my Master of Arts in Library & Information Science from USF.

As a librarian, I am also a teacher.

A librarian's job is to help people find, evaluate and use information.

The sheer amount of information available today can be overwhelming. It is often difficult to discern what is "good" information and what is not.

On the other hand, the tools available to find information, from search engines to databases, reference books to e-readers, can be new, unfamiliar, and confusing to use.

My goal in helping students (and faculty and staff!) is to make these tools more accessible to you.

More importantly, though, I want to teach students to value the importance of good information seeking and evaluation skills.

In your life and on the job, you will certainly be confronted with situations where you don't have all the facts. But, if you know where to go and how to find the information you need, I believe you will be better prepared to make good, informed decisions.

As a librarian, I am your guide in that process. That's what I enjoy most about my job. It is wayyy more than books!
