Thomas Ravenscroft

Associate Professor

Earned a B.S. degree from Florida Southern College and M.S. degree from Rollins College. I began teaching Fundamentals of Biology and Man and Environment at Valencia College in 1978. I strongly believe that the biological sciences are one of the most interesting and exciting courses of study. I enjoy participating in field research related to life sciences. My field experience includes participation in the banding and research of clapper rails in the salt marshes of coastal Georgia. I have also participated in research of nesting, brood range and reproductive success of an insular turkey population in Georgia. I recently observed field research on the study of energy flow from the salt marsh to terrestrial inland areas of the wharf crab, Sesarma cinereum. Further I continue to participate in prescribed burns on Sapelo Island, Georgia. In addition to research, I serve as a committee member for the Coastal Conservation Association.
