Intro to Humanities
This class is the basic and fundamental introduction to Humanities. This course focuses on central concepts, historical development and fundamental nature of philosophy, architecture, music, religion and art. Concepts from such disciplines integrated with contemporary American culture.


Humanities- 20th Century
20th Century Prerequisite: ENC 1101 or ENC 1101H or IDH1110. This course integrates the examination of dominant ideas in Western culture expressed in art, literature, music, philosophy and religion which have spanned the lives of the last three generations of humankind. It Integrates examination of dominant ideas in Western culture expressed in art, literature, music, philosophy and religion. Covers period from turn of century to present. Focuses on creative forces which have shaped contemporary consciousness from pioneering work of Einstein, Picasso, Stravinsky and Wright through dominance of objective consciousness to newly emerging guiding myths of today. Gordon Rule course in which the student is required to demonstrate college-level writing skills through multiple writing assignments. Minimum grade of C required if used to satisfy Gordon Rule


Humanities- Mythology
Mythology Prerequisite: ENC 1101 or ENC 1101H or IDH1110. Examines world mythology in comparative perspective, analyzes myths with a variety of methods, and considers the application of mythological ideas and symbols in the humanities. Gordon Rule course which requires multiple college level writing assignments. Minimum grade of C required if used to satisfy Gordon Rule requirement.


Humanities Special Topic- When Technology Fails
The Apocalypse and Humanities Syllabus Prerequisite: ENC 1101 or ENC 1101H or IDH1110 and HUM 1020 Integrated examination of ideas in Western Culture expressed in the aspects of technology and what happens humanistically when it fails. Covers various periods of time; much focus emphasized on the 20th and 21st centuries. This course examines the impacts of technology on the humanistic tradition and what happens when it is taken away. Students must demonstrate college-level writing skills through multiple assignments. *HUM 1020 may be substituted with an appropriate related course.


Humanities Special Topic- Sex Matters
Sexuality and Humanities Syllabus Prerequisite: ENC 1101 or ENC 1101H or IDH1110. Humanities is the academic disciple that studies various subjects like sexuality in human culture. Integrated examination of dominant ideas of sex and sexual history in Western culture as expressed in art, literature, music, philosophy and religion. Covers period from turn of late 20th century to present.
