BUILDING CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATING

Description: Students will learn the basic steps of estimating with emphasis on quantity takeoff. This class reinforces skills of reading and math applicable to CLASP and Valencia outcomes.
Text: Estimating In Building Construction by Dagostino.
Grade: The quizzes, the assignments, the project, and the final exam will count 25% each. A final grade will be assigned according to the following scale:
90 - 100% = A
80 - 90% = B
70 - 80% = C
60 - 70% = D
0 - 60% = F
Example: quizzes - 75, assignments - 85, project - 90, final exam - 80, average - 82.5, grade - B
Absences: The student is expected to attend each class. The student is responsible for all material covered or assigned during class. No make up quizzes will be given. Late assignments will not be accepted. Students may be dropped from the course if they miss three classes.
Honesty: Each student is expected to be in complete compliance with the college policy on academic honesty. Individual work is required by each student. For full credit you must show your calculations in a neat and orderly manner.
