Dave Faysash

I am a part-time adjunct professor here at Valencia College. I teach meteorology and earth science.

My normal day job is teaching science in at a public school. I have been a teacher since 2000.

Prior to teaching I earned my bachelors and masters degrees in Meteorology from Florida State. I was a graduate research assistant at Florida State. My research focus was on satellite remote sensing. I was able to publish two papers on my research.

In 2004 I earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. In 2007 I earned my National Board Certification for Science.

My main hobby outside of teaching is (you should guess it) meteorology. I spend time every day looking at weather information--weather maps, satellite pictures, radar images, observations, and weather model data. I always try to keep up to date with what is going with the weather.

I am very active with my local chapter of the American Meteorological Society. I am the recording secretary and I also organize the chapter's workshops for science teachers. We have meetings every month with a guest speaker who presents a topic in meteorology. I have been able to make many connections with local meteorologists
in my community. I am also a certified storm spotter for the National Weather Service.

I also like to workout by running and lifting weights. I have run marathons and half marathons in the past.

My family and I like to go on cruises every summer to the Caribbean. Cruising is another interest of mine and I really enjoy it.
