Barbara Peters

Hello, my name is Barbara Peters. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Valencia faculty community.

I am a native Floridian raised in Liberty City, a neighborhood in Miami. I am a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where I completed my Bachelor's and Master of Science in Nursing degrees. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing degree from Samford University in Alabama in Advanced Practice with an Educator focus.

I am a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a background in Primary Care Pediatrics in North, South, and Central Florida and Child Neurology here in Orlando. I began my nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Miami Heart Institute in Miami Beach, Florida. In addition, I have experience as a Medical/Surgical and Medical Telemetry nurse and educator, a Cardiovascular Intensive Care nurse at both Miami Heart Institute and Cleveland Clinic Weston, a Medical Malpractice Nurse Paralegal, a Preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students, and a long time Summer Camp RN in Upstate New York.

My most recent experience includes two years as faculty and lecturer to pre-licensure undergraduate nursing students in their Maternal-Child rotation. I had the privilege of teaching maternal-newborn and pediatric nursing in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical environment.

I am also an Indie publisher and author of two self-published books. I love studying information on health, the Bible, and languages--including Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, and other languages.

I look forward to facilitating the academic and professional growth of the students I encounter as they strategically discover their current learning styles and the opportunities available for moving forward towards excellence.

I also look forward to contributing to the faculty community here at Valencia.
