Hi everyone registered for GRA 1413 for Fall 2022 session. Welcome to your online course Professional Development for Designers. You should have received this through your Atlas email and sent me a quick reply. A simple Hello or Got it is fine as I just want to make sure everyone is receiving their Atlas email. If you haven't sent this reply check your email and do so. Your online course will be available to you on Monday, Aug 22 through Canvas Valencia's online learning delivery system available through Atlas. It is advised to set up a bookmark for it specifically. However, if you want to get a head start check out the syllabus/schedule in this page. It is suggested that you save the syllabus/schedule file though it will be available through your online course also. If you've never used Canvas there are lots of resources available to help you and a video that walks you through the basics https://community.canvaslms.com/videos/1124-canvas-overview-students. I want it to be as seamless as possible for all of you to be successful right from the start. All this will be available in the course, so even if someone were to register just before it starts that's no problem. A few other things of importance: • This course is totally online using Canvas accessible at https://online.valenciacollege.edu/ once it's available to you. You will never be required to come to campus. • There is no textbook required for this course. Just check out the syllabus for any requirements you'll need to complete the course • It’s essential that you check your Canvas Messages as well as your Atlas email on a regular basis. If I don't see you logging on once the course starts I'll definitely send you an email, so check often. NOTE: due to requirements by the Florida Dept of Education you MUST participate in this course for a gradable assignment no later than the end of the NO Show period - otherwise you will be considered a NO SHOW and I will have to withdraw you from the course. So here's what you have to do - it's easy. 1. Log onto the course once it’s available 2. Participate in Learning Module 1 Discussion Topic by the posted due date of Tuesday, Sept 9 or late extension of Friday, Sept 9 (with 10% deduction). LM 1 Discussion Topic consists of a fun project to let us all know about each other. Full details and “how to” are in the discussion description. Getting ahead in the course is also encouraged and everything is available from day one. PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL BE WITHDRAWN AS A NO SHOW IF YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THIS DISCUSSION TOPIC NO LATER THAN Sept 9 (which is the late extension) I look forward to working with you all this semester.
