Aurimar Lugo-Negron

Adjunct Professor English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
Nominated for a 2024 FAAETCL Faculty Association Award
Founder and Editor of the Creative Writing Blog, Diaries of the Diaspora

Professor Aurimar Lugo-Negron earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Technology from the American University of PR and her Master of Arts in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from the Interamerican University of PR-Metro Campus. She also possesses an MA Certification in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College PR Campus.

She has taught English as a Second Language in Puerto Rico since 2004 and in Florida since 2018. Professor Aurimar has taught English for Academic Purposes (EAP) at the Valencia College West, Osceola, and the Downtown Campus since the fall of 2018. She has also taught at the Valencia College Continuing Education department, including the Intensive English Program (IEP), English as a Second Language (ESOL), and Virtual English Language Teaching (VELT). Currently, she works alongside the Multilingual Services Department at Orange County Public Schools as an ESOL Compliance Specialist. In all of her roles, she provides help for individuals to learn another language for personal, educational, or professional reasons.

The free-spirited, sun-chaser, forever The Beatles-fan educator, loves to meet people from other cultures and nationalities. She enjoys meditation, yoga, reading, running, and hiking around nature, yet her favorite role is being a mommy and spending time with her family.

Professor Aurimar considers herself a “lifelong student” because life has a peculiar way of teaching new things when we least expect it. So, everyone should leave her classroom feeling refreshed and motivated, with a new built-in confidence to use the language, and a newfound curious mind to keep academically growing.
