Dr. Diana Ciesko
I am a professor of psychology at Valencia College, where I have been teaching for 18 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Towson University, Master's from Loyola University-Maryland and Ph.D. I primarily teach General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, including Honors courses. In addition, I have taught Abnormal Psychology and developed a Survey of Forensic Psychology course and co-developed a Psychology of Peace course.
I am interested in emotional intelligence and how that impacts our overall success - academically and personally. Academics is certainly critical to learning, however, the ability to navigate within one's environment has shown to be extremely important.
I was awarded Professor of the Semester by PTK, honored by the Honors Advisory Committee for my dedication as a faculty member and continued support of students in the Honors program. It was truly an emotional award which I will always cherish. In addition I was nominated and received a NISOD award, representing Valencia, along with two other colleagues in Austin, TX. As a result of student interest, I founded and served as Advisor to the Student Research Community - SRC.
