Katriona Salmon

Greetings, I have been in the education field since 2013. I began in the Public School System teaching high schoolers in English Language Arts and Intensive Reading. While English Literature and Composition have always been dearest to me, I have instructed GED, ABE, ESOL, and TESOL English Language Lessons.

At Valencia College, I instruct ENC1101 & ENC1102 in person and online. First-year writing is exciting and impertinent to the college writing experience. The skills acquired in Freshman Composition are foundational skills that prove to be everlasting, even post-grad. We can become influential writers and communicators for every aspect of our lives. I believe all students can become successful writers. When we plan for success, practice it purposefully, and apply it to real-world scenarios, it becomes more obtainable.

As for leisure time, I enjoy watching documentaries of all kinds. I’m a horror fanatic. I love to read YA novels. My favorite authors and playwrights are Sylvia Plath, Nicholas Sparks, William Shakespeare, Ntozake Shange, Zora Neale Hurston, and William Butler Yeats. I also do some writing of my own; I write short stories, creative nonfiction, and novels.

Happy Learning!
