Dr. Milica Calovic
I've served as a cell genetics research scientist at the University of Florida for over 15 years. I currently maintain a part-time position at UF because staying updated on the latest trends and necessary skills in biotechnology is a priority for me. After earning my PhD in biology in 2014, I embarked on my teaching journey at the West Campus of Valencia College. Throughout my time as an educator, I have taught courses in General Biology I, General Biology II, Microbiology, and Human Anatomy & Physiology II.
I find great satisfaction in in-person teaching, as it allows me to engage with students individually, aiding their grasp of new biological concepts and terms. To achieve this, I implement Active Learning-Centered Teaching practices, where students actively participate in learning rather than being passive observers. By using this student-centered approach, my objectives include helping students comprehend the intricacies of biological processes and the world around them. Furthermore, I strive to illustrate the significance of this knowledge within their chosen healthcare professions.
