Nelson M. Placa

Professor, Hospitality & Tourism Management

Nelson M. Placa graduated from Columbia College with a B.A. in Business Administration, and an M.S. in Hospitality Management from Florida International University. Nelson is currently a full-time Hospitality Professor and Program Chair at Valencia College – Osceola Campus. He also serves as advisor for the Hospitality Club at Osceola Campus and Osceola High School NAF Academy. He started his career in higher education in 2013. Prior to his current role, Nelson worked for twenty years with several world renowned companies such as The Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Marriott International and the Walt Disney World Company. Currently, he is responsible for the oversight of the Associate in Science degree program in Hospitality Management at the Osceola Campus.

He has a passion for developing and educating the next generation of industry professionals. Nelson works closely with industry partners in the community to provide students with the tools they need to succeed.
