The theatre, which is no thing, but makes use of everything – gestures, sounds, words, screams, light, darkness – rediscovers itself at precisely the point where the mind requires a language to express its manifestations. To break through language in order to touch life is to create or recreate the theatre. – Antonin Artaud.

ATTENDANCE IN AN ONLINE COURSE- Valencia College defines an online class as a course where "all class meetings and coursework occur online using the college-approved course management system."
According to Valencia's Attendance Policy in online courses attendance is determined by consistently logging in and accessing the course content and completing courses in accordance with the syllabus.
• Students should login into the online course regularly. However, this does not equate to a student being "present" as they may not be actively engaged.
• Students should complete academic related activities by the due dates set by the faculty.
• Students are expected to complete a minimum of one academic related activity in the first week to prevent being reported as a no-show.
• Academic related activities and login activity help document the active participation of a student.
Typically missed assignments do negatively impact a student's final participation and may impact a grade. ***A student's active participation in an online course should also require a student to respond timely to any communication in an online course with faculty.
IF A STUDENT IS UNABLE TO DO THE ASSIGNED WORK IN A MODULE + MAKEUP WORK - In the event of the inability to participate in the online module, a student should contact their professor as soon as possible to indicate the reason and to inquire whether make-up work is possible. Make-up work is offered solely at the discretion of each professor and must be accompanied with paper/work that may include a doctor’s note, for example. Since all modules are opened since the beginning of the course. It is expected that students can easily work on all the content.
EXCESSIVE ABSENCES - If a student's inactivity in an online course becomes excessive, as stated in the course syllabus, a professor may contact the student, indicating that further inactivity in the course may result in a withdrawal from the course (see Course Attempts & Course Withdrawal). Before making the decision to withdraw from the course I urge to look at the preceding link. According to the attendance policy, faculty should inform a student, either in writing or electronically via Atlas, if the student's inactivity in a course threatens his or her academic progress or standing in the class.
