FRE 2201 (French Intermediate II)
French 2200 is a three (3) credit hour course. This course is a continuation of FRE 1101. The primary goal of intermediate French I is to teach students how to become literate in the target language. The focus of the course is on reading, discussing what has been read, and writing compositions on discussed materials. Reading proficiency is important to the central purpose of the course. Students will be required to read in the target language then discuss and analyze the structure of text using targeted vocabulary to foster analytical skills and to reinforce comprehension. Students will be provided with hand-outs on which classroom discussions and vocabulary development are based. Discussions may be carried and studied through video presentations. This course provides a greater awareness and understanding of the French language and culture through proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. There will also be a general review of the Subjunctive mode and the Présent simple of the Indicative

    The Intensive French course covers FRE 1000, 1100, and 1101. There are no prerequisites. Students are introduced to French grammar, vocabulary, and composition applying speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. Students will be exposed to different aspects of the French culture and increase awareness and appreciation in the similarities with their own.

    Basic Spanish is a three-credit-hour course. This is a basic course in Spanish providing the student an introduction to the Spanish language and culture through proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The student will also be able to answer in complete sentences, create small dialogues on topics such as: greeting, asking and answering questions, describing self and others, expressing likes and dislikes, describing daily routines and the physical environment, negotiating elements of time, incorporating imperatives and showing a mature attitude toward cultural differences.

  • SPN 1101 (ELementary Spanish II)
    SPN 1101, Elementary Spanish 2, is a three credit hour course. Continuing course in fundamental Spanish Grammar. Student should improve pronunciation skills, answer in complete sentences, create dialogues, write essays. At this level student will be introduced to the grammar: subjunctive, commands, present perfect, future, and conditional tense. Student will also continue to learn and show a mature attitude toward cultural differences.
