Dr. Brian Macon

I have been a tenured professor at Valencia College since 2000.

My educational path is as follows:

**Associate in Arts, Valencia Community College, 1995
**Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, University of Central Florida 1998
**Master of Science in Applied Mathematics, University of Central Florida 2000
**Master of Science in Modeling and Simulation, University of Central Florida 2014
**PhD in Modeling & Simulation, University of Central Florida 2019

I love teaching an interacting with students. I have a passion for applied mathematics. I specialize in Online Education and help train/mentor new faculty. I am also involved in authoring textbooks for mathematics.

I enjoy learning new things and consider myself to be a life-long learner. My doctoral research was on Digital Game-Based Learning to study the effects of using an educational games on motivation, engagement, and learning. I intend to continue participating in research related to this topic,

I am lucky to have a wonderful family at home. We have 3 children (all adults now, 18 and over). Our oldest just had a child and I am now a grandfather!
