Benjamin Taylor
Professor Taylor has been teaching Science and Technology courses for over 25 years, with much of that time spent in online learning environments. While he has a deep appreciation for the traditional classroom setting, he finds that the unique challenges of online education continually sharpen his teaching, technical, and communication skills. More importantly, these challenges help students develop essential remote communication abilities—skills increasingly vital in today's and tomorrow’s IT workplaces.
As emphasized by many members of the department’s Business and Industry Advisory Council, modern IT roles often require professionals to communicate and troubleshoot effectively with team members and clients from remote locations. Professor Taylor integrates these real-world expectations into his teaching to help prepare students for the evolving workforce.
Throughout his career, Professor Taylor has made it a priority to build meaningful relationships with his online students, striving to replicate the strong connections he has fostered in face-to-face classrooms. He hopes that this brief profile will help "put a face with the name" and serve as a small step toward personalizing the online learning experience.
His educational background includes:
M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington
MBA/MIS from Pacific Lutheran University
M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida
Completed coursework toward a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Central Florida
Professor Taylor is passionate about science, technology, and the art of teaching both. He looks forward to each new semester and the opportunity to engage with his students. His goal is to “take the distance out of distance learning” and ensure that all students feel supported, connected, and inspired.
Students are always encouraged to reach out with questions, concerns, or suggestions. Professor Taylor is committed to making the online learning journey a collaborative and rewarding experience for everyone.
